Library Study Program at the Asia Culture Center

<Sound and Music in Asia> Exhibition & Program : 1960s Cambodian Lost Rock N Rol
In the 1960s, Cambodia’s popular music saw its golden age as rock, R&B and western pop sounds combined with uniquely Cambodian music. However, during the era of Democratic Kampuchea in the 1970s – the reign of the Khmer Rouge- many artists were executed or simply disappeared. Only fragments of this time period remain.
The ACC Library Park will hold a linking program featuring a special exhibition of Cambodian popular music with the “Cambodia Vintage Music Archive”, a professional organization for the collection and preservation of materials related to Khmer music of Cambodia.
In particular, the event will feature the unique sounds of Cambodian pop music and materials related to Sinn Sisamouth, the father of Cambodian popular music.
In addition, we have prepared various programs to celebrate and commemorate the golden age of popular music of Cambodia, including screenings, talk programs, and DJ events.
