I’ve curated a series of exhibitions for the Art in the Workplace program at the Bank of Hope Manhattan Branch (16 W 32nd St, New York, NY 10001). Supported by the AHL Foundation, this initiative aimed to promote local Korean artists and enhance accessibility to contemporary art for the public and business community. The exhibitions included:
- Park Joon’s solo exhibition, America the Beautiful: the Photographic Journey of Park Joon (September 1st, 2020 – January 31st, 2021)
- Hyong Nam Ahn Solo Exhibition (February 11, 2021 – July 31, 2021)
- Sun You: Summer Cut (August 4th, 2021 – January 31st, 2022)
- Sung Ho Choi: the Alchemy of Pattern (February 10th, 2022 – June 30th, 2022)
- Sunhee Jung Kim’s Solo Exhibition, Island (July 21, 2022 – December 30, 2022)
- Kyunghee Min’s Solo Exhibition, Everywhere, Elsewhere 2 (January 6, 2023 – June 30, 2023)
These exhibitions offered diverse perspectives and artistic talents while creating a cultural ambiance within the bank. The intention was to foster appreciation for Korean art and encourage dialogue through the showcase of contemporary works.
*One of my favorite memories is that I sold Kyung Hee Min’s commissioned artwork titled ‘Korea Town (2023)” to the restaurant ‘Shanghai Mong’ next to the Bank of Hope.
